Ogun PDP guber ticket tussle: Court fixes Dec 1 for judgment

A Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday mounted December 1 for judgment within the fierce authorized battle on the Governorship ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ogun State.

Justice Inyang Edem Ekwo mounted the date after taking arguments from events embroiled within the authorized battle on the disputed ticket.

At the middle of the dispute are Otunba Jimi Adebisi Lawal and Oladipupo Adebutu, each Governorship aspirants of the PDP and laying declare and counterclaim to the ticket.

Jimi Lawal who contested the May 25 governorship main election of PDP had challenged the emergence of Oladipupo Adebutu alleging that illegal and invalid delegates record was fraudulently utilized by PDP to conduct the election.

Among others, Lawal had prayed that the purported main election of May 25 be cancelled and one other one be performed with the genuine advert hoc delegates.

However, Justice Taiwo Taiwo of the Federal High Court in his judgment delivered on July 29 declined to listen to the go well with of Jimi Lawal on benefit on the grounds that the first election was a home affair of any political celebration and dismissed the go well with.

The Supreme Court had nonetheless, on November 21 ordered the Federal High Court to listen to on benefit, the go well with instituted towards PDP and Adebutu by Jimi Adebisi Lawal.

Justice Ibrahim Saulawa of the Apex Court ordered speedy listening to into the go well with after holding that the Federal High Court has jurisdiction to entertain the case.

At the Thursday’s proceedings, Justice Ekwo, in compliance with the Supreme Court order, heard the case expeditiously in view of the truth that the case would lapse by December 2.

Justice Ekwo stated that he would do all the things humanly doable to ship judgment within the go well with on December 1.

At the proceedings, Kanu Agabi SAN with Ola Olanipekun SAN stood for Jimmy Lawal because the plaintiff whereas Chief Chris Uche SAN argued for PDP and Oladipupo Adebutu.

While Agabi SAN prayed the court docket to grant the request of his shopper, Uche opposed the request and urged the court docket to dismiss the case on three grounds.
