A 33-year-old man has been charged with murder after police discovered the body of his 61-year-old mother in Perth’s south last night.

Emergency services were called to Gallipoli Avenue in Byford about 7.05pm after receiving reports of a woman injured.

Two streets were locked down and the woman died outside a neighbour’s home after fleeing a house on nearby Larimar Avenue, 9News understands.

“[I] just heard a woman screaming around 7 o’clock, then the police rocked up,” one local said today.

“[The street is] very quiet – always has been. Never had any dramas really, then this happens,” another said.

The son was allegedly seen leaving the area in a silver Peugeot.

Two hours later, officers spotted the car travelling north on Great Northern Highway, north of Bindoon, police said.

Two streets were locked down and it's understood the woman died outside a neighbour's home in Byford, Perth.

“Officers activated emergency lights and sirens, however the driver failed to stop and an evade police incident ensued,” police said.

“The vehicle came to a stop on Great Northern Highway in Bindi Bindi following the successful deployment of a tyre deflation device.

“The 33-year-old man, who was acting aggressively, challenged police and a Taser was deployed.”

The man was taken into custody and has since been charged with one count of murder.

He will appear before the Armadale Magistrates Court tomorrow.
