At least ten people were killed on Monday in a shooting at a King Soopers grocery store in Boulder, Colo., according to ABC 7 Denver.
The shooting happened after 2:30 p.m, the report said. State law enforcement officials said when they arrived at the scene, a suspect opened fire on them.
AirTracker7 said three medevac helicopters were called in and were landing at Fairview High School.
Video from the scene showed one man with a bloody leg being led away from the store in handcuffs and being loaded into an ambulance. It is not clear whether or not that man is a suspect in the shooting.
Many police officers from different agencies have responded to the scene and are telling people to avoid the area of the King Soopers.
The Boulder Police Department said they will be providing an update during a news conference at 6:30 p.m. Watch live coverage as the situation unfolds in the video player below.
Colorado governor Jared Polis released a statement Monday evening on Twitter.
“Like my fellow Coloradans, I am closely watching unfolding events at King Soopers in Boulder,” Polis wrote. “My prayers are with our fellow Coloradans in this time of sadness and grief as we learn more about the extent of the tragedy.”
In another statement, Polis asked for residents to have patience as the investigation continues.
“Right now, the biggest priority is to let local law enforcement and the City of Boulder to do their work to ensure the safety of those involved,” he said.

The suspect:
Boulder Police Department Commander Kerry Yamaguchi said there is one suspect in custody, but they are still investigating if they were the only shooter. Officials say the suspect is being treated for their injuries. The shooter’s motive is not yet known.

Police say they are still determining how many people died, and how many people were inside the store during the shooting.
Yamachi said one Boulder police officer was killed during the shooting.
Police Chief Meris Herold said during news conference later Monday evening that the police officer who was killed was Eric Talley, 51, who responded to the initial call. He had been with Boulder Police Department since 2010.

Gabrielle Giffords, a mass shooting survivor and gun control advocate said in a statement “It’s beyond time for our leaders to take action” to address gun control.
“This is not normal, and it doesn’t have to be this way,” Giffords, the former Arizona Congresswoman said.
According to CNN, Giffords was shot in the head in 2011 when a gunman opened fire at an event in Tuscon, Arizona, while the former US Representative was speaking with her constituents. Giffords survived, but six people were killed. Read more at ABC News
