Teacher suspended after video of her refusing to wear a mask at Starbucks went viral thestar.com
The head of the French department at Loretto Abbey Catholic Secondary School in North York has been suspended after a TikTok video of her refusing to wear a mask in a Starbucks went viral.
The teacher has been identified as Angela Sena, a teacher at the high school near Yonge Street and Wilson Avenue.
The video posted on Monday has since been taken down. In it, a woman is maskless at a Starbucks arguing with a staff member who is asking her to leave.
The school’s trustee, Maria Rizzo spoke with the Star on Tuesday and confirms that Sena has been suspended and an investigation is underway. Rizzo says she found out about the video after receiving a flood of messages from concerned parents.
“I want the parents to be sure that the board takes this very seriously”, the school’s trustee, Maria Rizzo told the Star. “As soon as this was raised, decisive action was taken to put the teacher on leave and conduct an investigation,” she added.
