TikTok bans ‘That Vegan Teacher’ with 1.7 million followers after 20,000 sign petition to remove her

TikTok has banned Kadie Karen Diekmeyer, popularly known on Social Media as That Vegan Teacher.

Diekmeyer’s account of 1.7 million followers now shows a “couldn’t find this account” message, saying that the user was banned for “multiple community guideline violations.”

The exact reason for That Vegan Teacher’s ban remains unclear, but Diekmeyer has been a controversial presence on the viral video app, according to the report.

Her account was banned following the publication of a Change.org petition, which accuses her of using incendiary measures to force her views on the public, The Post reported.

Insider reported that Diekmeyer was consistently trying to convince others, like celebrity chefs Gordon Ramsey and Jamie Oliver, to go vegan. Most recently, she focused on YouTuber TommyInIt, one of the fastest-growing Minecraft content creators who recently hit four million followers on TikTok.

Diekmeyer, who is currently hurting badly by the ban, is calling on everyone to “rise up” and defend her. In a video she posted on Tuesday in her YouTube account of 31,000 followers, That Vegan Teacher said:

“Many of you woke up this morning and found out that my account was banned on TikTok, and I know many of you are jumping for joy and thinking that this is a great victory.”

“Somehow, it makes you smile to know that an animal rights activist is being silenced,” she said in the video titled “Censorship: Why Good People Must Rise Up And Speak Out.”

The Twitterverse quickly took notice with multiple trending posts.

Diekmeyer goes on to deny a series of accusations in her latest video — claiming she never “stalked anyone,” nor “‘forced’ anyone to be vegan,” and “nobody ever got sick or ‘died’ because of me.” She also proclaims that “Veganphobia is real,” evidenced by the fact that people have allegedly “left dead animal body parts on my front steps. Eggs were thrown over my fence. Death threats were uttered. Groups of people tried to steal my dog, Bella.”

The Change.org petition, however, claims that Diekmeyer used her TikTok to make “blatantly racist, bigoted, discriminatory statements against anyone who doesn’t view veganism her way and her way alone,” and promote “multiple films that are dangerous to children,” calling her use of the platform “morally and ethically repugnant,” according to The Post,

Diekmeyer, the 56-year-old Canadian, reportedly joined TikTok  in 2019 but became widely known in July 2020 after her “Eating Animals is Wrong, McDonalds” song went viral. Asking a corporate fast-food chain to change their entire menu was seen as noble by some and ridiculous to others, creating a hunger for more of her songs or content. Over the next few months, she gained hundreds of thousands of followers.
