Teen charged with murder after stabbing in Queensland mining town

An 18-year-old man will front court today on a murder charge following a death in north-west Queensland.

Police were called to a property at Abel Smith Parade in Pioneer, a suburb of Mount Isa, early yesterday following reports a man had been stabbed.

They found the 34-year-old victim with life-threatening injuries.

He was taken to hospital but died a short time later.

The 18-year-old, from Happy Valley, was arrested at the scene and later charged with murder (domestic violence).

It will be alleged both men knew each other.
