Ukraine news LATEST: UK, US & France release statement on Russia’s ‘dirty bomb’ claims as UN to inspect Ukrainian sites
WESTERN leaders have come together to slam Russia’s “transparently false” claims that Ukraine plans to use a “dirty bomb” on its own territory.
The UK, US and France released a joint statement stating they “all reject Russia’s transparently false allegations that Ukraine is preparing to use a dirty bomb on its own territory.”
President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russian claims that Ukraine could use a so-called “dirty bomb” on its own people are entirely false, and simply a pretext for further escalation from Putin.
It comes as the UN’s nuclear watchdog looks set to send a team to inspect two sites in Ukraine at the government’s request.
The sites will be examined for signs of “undeclared nuclear activities” officials said, and it will be done by International Atomic Energy Agency inspectors.
